                    Came accross this good offer (there are a limited number available) for an .eu domain for 10p+VAT.

You can use it for personal email addresses eg [EMAIL="your.name@suits.eu"]your.name@suits.eu[/EMAIL] (or whatever domain you buy), and/or you could point www.suits.eu to your personal Web page if you have one (or any other page eg your Twitter or Facebook or Bebo etc page).
For that reason, I don't understand why anyone would only want a domain for one year, and wouldn't want to renew*. If you don't renew, you would lose your personal email address and/or Web address that you've just spent the last year using and telling people about...
Personally, I prefer .co.uk and .me.uk domains- they're much cheaper too!
(*Unless the plan is to transfer it to another registrar of course)0
