Password protect a CD with folders in

Hi guys, newbie here :T
I'm looking for freeware / open source software that will allow me to put files/folders onto a CD which is password protected without using archiving software like zip or Winrar.
I don't mind if its not encrypted or if you can see the folder names.
Searching Google just gave me a load of try before you buy programs.
Any help would be appreciated.

The CDFS file sytem used on CDs does not support any type of password protection. Your only options are to password protect the actual files from within the program that created them e.g. Word etc. or use something like truecrypt (free) to encrypt the whole lot. That would require your recipient to have the program installed as well though to decrypt and view the files. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Excellent advice indeed - protect the content - just create one containing folder and protect that and also the subfolders within.
True Crypt is free and well established - find it here: http://www.truecrypt.org/0 -
You haven't quite understood my question, the CD holds utilities i use on multiple computers so if I need to install the software onto every pc it is impracticable0

Use Truecrypt with a file container, or encrypt each individual file using something like the free (donation-ware) AxCrypt: http://www.axantum.com/AxCrypt/
With Truecrypt you can have a small run-over version to decrypt (without installing) on a CD or USB stick, but you'll have to check with AxCrypt. Either way, you'll need the software with you.
Why bother using a CD? It is much more flexible to use a memory stick, and many more options too, including just having a partition encrypted with truecrypt. I take around a huge amount of utilities and files to clients on variously encrypted sticks.
In addition many memory sticks have software included to password protect a hidden partition, like than on (for example) Kingston DataTraveler sticks, this does not need to be installed on any PC using the stick, but can be double-clicked from the stick to unlock...0 -
If you do not want people to see or run programs on your CD that rings alarm bells with me in that you possibly should not have them in that environment. You haven't quite understood my question, the CD holds utilities i use on multiple computers so if I need to install the software onto every pc it is impracticableThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. If you do not want people to see or run programs on your CD that rings alarm bells with me in that you possibly should not have them in that environment.
Let me explain they are NOT sensitive files, they are programs I use on peoples PCs such as malware removal and other freeware utilities....however i have spent a lot of time gathering the these tools and compiling them onto one CD and keeping them updated.
Therefore all im looking to do is make sure if someone was to try to use the CD they are unable to run the programs. Hope this make sense.
I dont mind if they are not encrypted, in fact i would prefer if they wasn't as this could cause more problems than its worth.0
