When I'm working from home and don't want to put the heating on I have been known to wear:

    • thermals
    • sheepskin boots
    • fleece (possibly more than one)
    • down waistcoat
    • hat
    • fingerless gloves
I also find a hot water bottle can come in handy :D

You will find that you get cold because you're sitting still so much, so make sure you get up and move around regularly. Drinking hot drinks also helps keep you warm.

I appreciate your comments about the oil-fired heating - I don't have it myself, but grew up with it. Make sure you check your tank before Christmas, as it's the traditional time for it to run out ;)

Thanks Penrhyn - will take a look over that one and any other Argos have on offer. Much appreciate the tips.

Hi Macman - we can turn the rads off, but flicking the heating on and off throughout the day never really works as I forget to turn it off, plus would prefer to use as little of the oil as poss, so just a blast to warm the house on very cold morns and for the hot water ... filling up is uber pricey. so an eco radiator for just my office will keep the costs down I think. I am already MrsMeany with lights on, standby switches etc and also we have the rellies all over Christmas who live in sub-tropical hermatically sealed new build so know I will need all my oil reserves for then ha ha. thanks for thoughts though, appreciate it.

If you have TRV's on the rads and a room 'stat, then there should be no need to turn it on and off. That is the whole point of thermostatic control.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
