DPA Breach

Sorry if this is located under the wrong board. Need some advise as to whether the following situation is a breach of DPA or not.
Have just moved in with my partner and we found out over the last 2 weeks that her Sky.mail account had been receiving irregular e-mails from companies that she had not contacted previously. When she logged onto to her account which should show her subscription, address, bank details and e-mails she found that the details were of a different lady in the UK of the same name. We questioned Sky who said it was a technical error and they were not sure how my partner had gained access to someelse account which includes all that persons e-mail as well as bank details, address , partners name etc. Im not confident that this lady has not had access to my partners details and am afraid of Sky just trying to over-elaborate on what occurred and state no DPA was breached? The other lady has now been issued with a different user name but how can we be confident that my partners details have been accessed and copied? Can someone advise if this is a real breach of DPA? Or advise as to where my next step is to ensure that Sky IT secure system is robust enough to stop this happening to others
Many Thanks to all readers of my first ever blog

Can you prove that these "irregular e-mails" came from, or are due to Sky ?
Without this, I am afraid you are stuck.0 -
I dont have screen prints but i do have the e-mails received due to activity of the other lady. Plus i have the e-mails sent by Sky to confirm change of password to access the other lady`s details would that be sufficient?0

Phone the ICO (Information Commissioners Office).
They have a free helpline, and will give you helpful advice on what to do.
As a new user, I can't post their link, but Google will find them easily0
