Printer repair under warranty

I had an HP wireless printer which had to go back to HP for repair under warranty and although it's hard to tell, I think they sent me a different one - perhaps a recon. I don't have a problem with this except that it still didn't work - a different fault. I'm waiting for it to come back hopefully sorted. My query is to do with the ink I had in the printer at the time. I suspect that the cartridges will be too dried up to use when it finally comes back. With the cost of a large black cartridge and a colour one I could have bought another printer. Both of the cartridges were quite new. So, my question is whether I can expect them to compensate me for these too. Any advice appreciated.

Thanks for the info, but too late I'm afraid. It's already gone back to PC World for the second time. I wish I'd known earlier. Their service has been dreadful.

HP tell you not to send cartridges with the unit, they're lost now

If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.
