Barclaycard late payment

Hi,

I set up a DD on my Barclaycard around 7 or 8 days before my bill was due. When I checked back a few days later it was there and it said it was set up and would be taken from my account.

However the dd date came and went and no money was deducted.

I rang Barclaycard and they said it was too late to take the money from my bank account and so a late payment fee had been applied. I explained what had happened, and she refunded the payment.

I also normally get texts alerts and I didnt receive one of these to make the payment, so again I thougt the DD was going to cover it.

My question is will this be reflected on my credit file as it was only a few days late and soon as I spoke to them and found out the DD was going to happen I made the payment over the phone.

I dont want my credit report affected by this!!

    you'll find out next month. If it's on there barclaycard are the only ones that can remove it.

    I've had a couple of late payments with no excuse (as you have) other than my own absent-mindedness, however none have ever appeared on or affected my credit history. You should be able to get it removed anyway if it does go on.
    I'm proud of my advice, if others want to look I say enjoy the show!
  • Thanks. Yeah, I read somewhere that it was only if it was over 30 days late that it went on. I hope so!! I am abit twitchy as I am going through the mortgage process at the moment!!! :eek:
    If it does go on, I will be cross as the lady I spoke to at Barclaycard implied it was their fault especially as I didnt get the usual text alert telling me to pay!

  • Spoke to Barclaycard - India I believe! - and finally she agreed to not pass the late payment onto the credit agency. It took several attempts and I had to threaten to take to it further before she relented! I did ask to speak to a Manager and this was the lady that eventually helped me!

    What swung it was when I spoke to the previous lady about the late payment she admitted that the DD should have been taken and that the fact I got no text alert meant everything was in place. I said the calls are recorded, go back and listen to it! Not sure if they could do this, but it would prove I was lying if they could.

    I am very pleased with this outcome! Just goes to show, its work persisting with something when it was a genuine mistake and you know you werent in the wrong!
