So why not get her to ask the finance company for a settlement figure and then clear the amount due yourself. in that way you have your laptop, she has hers you gifted her and your child is not affected.

    Morally it is the right thing to do, I just feel a little cheated about the whole thing.

    Hopefully we will be able to come to some kind of arrangement.
