Is there a yellow triangle anywhere in the device manager? If so right click on it and click uninstall driver and reboot.

To get to the device manager go to Start>Right click Computer>Properties when the window opens click on the device manager on the left.
  • Hi there is no yellow triangles

If this is/was a recent problem, you could try a System Restore (SR) and roll back to a previous good working state. HT Helps.

Ok assuming that you havent just muted the sound go into the device manager as I mentioned above and locate the sound video and games controller section. Uninstall (by right clicking) everything you find there and reboot.
  • i have just run dxdiag the results were
Direct sound test results ; failure at step 19(user verifacation of software)

    Can some please help me
