Volvo V50 1.6 Drive start/ stop

Hi

I hope someone can help. My company car is up for renewal shortly and i was wondering if anyone has got or driven the above car. the 1.6 engine may imply that's its under powered but i just wanted someone elses opinion

test drive it, i lot of my friends buy 'powerful cars' when i get to see them, they are a 1.8 with a sport badge stuck to the side, therefore it must be powerful :rotfl:

take one for a drive and decide yourself, no point getting stuck with a car because of some random opinion

I Have a V50 DRIVE R-Design, it is now 6 weeks old and has done 4500 miles. My previous car was a 56 reg BMW 320d. I also went for the V50 because I wanted an estate car and low company car tax.

My advice would be to speak with the lease company, they will probably be able to organise a 48 hour test drive, I ended up with one over the August Bank Holiday so got a really good feel for the car before ordering.

Overall I am delighted with it, it will not win a drag race but is no slouch. Most of my driving is fast A road and some motorway - very little town driving. On the motorway you will need to change down a gear if you want to accelerate quickly but at no other time does it feel too slow.

MPG is a little dissapointing - mine is not start/stop - it started at 50 mpg average and is now up to 55 MPG, it may improve a little more with mileage but it is not getting anything like the claimed 60+mpg.

It is also worth mentioning that the seats are superb - very comfortable. If you go for leather I would recommend getting the heated seats, they are great in the winter.

Finally, the standard headlights are terrible - either go for xexon or get the dealer to make sure they are correctly adjusted when you collect the car, they all seem to have the headlights pointing too low when delivered.
