Can someone help and give advice please?

I posted this on the disabilty and dosh thread, but think it might to better here,

My DS has ASD.

Last few months he has been excluded / sent home almost daily, if he is at school. Again today ive had to go and collect him

I am trying to work full time but its got to the point where the boss tries to understand but is getting really peed off with me taking time off constantly and not being able to do my job when i am there as im always havig calls re DS or im worried.

Am i right in thinking that if i get sacked i cannot claim benifits? I really dont want to and im in tears as i write this but DS needs me around at the moment. I dont know what to do, im fighting the LA at the moment trying to get DS a statement so we can then move schools. Its all just such a mess.

Also if i decide to give up work is there any help out there to support us until DS is in a school that can cope with his needs.

If anyone has any info i would be really greatful, apologies for my post being all over the place.

Can I ask why is he getting sent home all the time? Do you get DLA for him?

Hes sent home because of his behavour, being violent, causing disruptions, the school say that they don’t have the room for someone with DS needs. A statement is being prepared now.

No DLA, wasn’t going to claim until last week when I had to leave work on Mon / Tues and Wed, he was then excluded for the rest of the week. So the forms have been filled out and sent last week.

If he is awarded DLA middle/high rate care you will be entitled to claim carers allowance and Income support top up ( I am assuming your a single parent)

So leaving your job or being sacked will not have an affect on these benefits.

Keep pushing at the school, they cannot keep sending him home! What are they telling him by doing this...be "naughty" you get the rest of the day off school.

    Your right, i am.

Thank you, i was just panicking as boss really was not happy today when i upped and left.

And i agree about the school, it seems they keep sending him home so they can prove to the LA that they cant handle him  Its been a 4 year battle so far.

I hope we get him settled somewhere soon, its just on going.

If you get carers allowance it would be £53.10 with £40.70 top up Income support.
