Your advice certainly don't sound WISER?

First of all, why the personal attack?
Secondly, the lad who asked the original question may be the nicest guy in the world and I salute him sincerely for trying to help someone; BUT, if I am going for an important meeting (appeal) I REALLY don't want someone I am depending on "winging it"
He needs to be properly coached before he launches himself onto the market, it's not really a thing you learn on the hoof.
If I !!!!-up my own appeal then it's my fault, if HE cocks up someone elses appeal then how would BOTH parties feel?
ALL the advice on this page is just an offering, please don't dis those YOU disagree with. Offer something positive instead of just slagging the bod off.
Do you have a leesonce for yer minkey?
  • Hello all,

I'm not handling it alone, as I have co-workers to check the information that I may potentially use or write, and I assure you these are experienced and professional persons. Also the family that as requested our organisations help and as used, and obviously, trusts our services.

At this moment in time there is no meeting arranged. The lady that contacted me was looking for advice and thats solely what I offered. I'm sorry for asking for templates, as this was a mistake on my part. What I meant was previous letters (for structure, not content) so that I could HELP her too write an appeal if needed, with the help of 'coached' persons.

Please dont feel I'm being funny with anyone, as I'm truely not. I feel I need to explain my standing as I would'nt put myself, or a parent (and the childs future) in a situation were an appeal could be lost because of unprofessional behaviour. I have no intention of going to appeal on the grounds of my knowledge, as only a fool would do that in my position.

    Best Wishes,
    Gary Harrison
  • Hi Gary, I help clients fill out DLA forms and appeal letter and I urge that you should seek advice from the CAB/DIAL beforehand as they need to be worded appropiately and the correct info needs to be added. I have been trained to do this, without training you could really mess this up for the family. Perhaps you could bring this issue up with your manager that you could do with training on DLA form filling if it is going to be a part of your job.
  • Thanks, I've passed on the CAB/DIAL info to the family.

Gary, this will come across as snidey so I will apologise in advance, but you repeatedly use 'as' when it should be 'has'. I think this is very important in the sort of work you do.
Tomorrow is always fresh, with no mistakes in it!

Couldn't we use Private Messaging for posts such as this?
