Corsa 03 gear box linkages

The linkages on my gear box needs replacing (manufacturing fault that Vauxhall wont take responsbility for) ive been quoted £170, does anyone know if this is reasonable?

Crikey.

On my old fiat tipo a gear linkage broke, cost £10 for a new one and 5 mins to replace myself, and I'm useless at diy stuff.

Are corsas really awkward then?

Not that bad of a price, All Labour though. Is that "Mr Local Garage" or a dealer price ?

Have you got any other quotes ?

They have plastic gear linkages unfortunatly.

local garage. I got a quote from another local who was only £10 cheaper. Seems a ridiculous amount to me for what it is

We did some on my OH brother's mk1 golf. Parts cost us £15 and it did take us 2 hours to complete.

So £70 a hour is quite high for a local garage, more delaer rates at that.

Did they say, whats they were charging you for the parts ?

My local garage charges £40 an hour for labour.

Does seem very expensive. Would you be willing to have a go yourself, armed with a Haynes manual?

We used to do them quite often. The part was about 40 quid and it's half hour job at tops.

You need to get the new ones which aint plastic like the old ones

you can do it yourself if you have a haynes manual and pretty competent under the bonnet

I've just had to have this done on my 03 corsa as well! It cost me £120.
