Warranty and Servicing

My car is just going for its 2 year service, but is two months late and the previous owner took it for its first one about 6 months late. So I'm now wondering where I stand with regards to any warranty work? What would and wouldn't be covered, if anything at all?

  • You have invalidated it. (Most MFR's allow a little leeway usually 30days or 1000miles) but 6 months is stretching it somewhat.

However i would expect the warranty to still cover anything that has failed and is not a consequence of not having it serviced on time. For example the CD player.

But in short you have left yourself in hot water and its largely up to the individual MFR's discretion.

It was bought private by my wife from a 'friend'. To be honest I've got the replies I was expecting but think I'd still kick up a fuss if something went that wasn't linked to lack of timely servicing! Not sure how far I'd get though.

It's in for a service with the dealer this week so we'll see what happens.

Does anyone know of any Ford dealers that went bust between after Sept 08? ;)

    Why?

Ford may have central records, you have no stamp on the service book or invoice to back up the vact it was serviced there.

If that was what you were thinking.

I thought your username was just a Topcat reference, not a reflection of your job.:rotfl:

The quote was just a tongue in cheek suggestion of a possible solution. The winky thing was there to indicate I wasn't serious.
