Rip off Britain

Just been watching this show, it's very informative.
Talking about people getting store cards then getting into debt just to get a % off the first purchase.
I do this, I accept the card application and get the discount.
I then pay off the balance in full, cut the card up.
I do this a lot and so far it does not appear to have affected my credit rating as I never get refused, so I save quite a bit of money this way especially during sale times.
I was appalled at the way some people get trapped into accepting store cards when they have no intention of paying them off in full, I can't feel any sympathy for them as they have the option to say No thanks.
My tip would be, don't accept store cards just to get a discount unless you intend to pay the bill in full each month.
You live..You learn.:)

if they have no intention of paying it off, then they are hardly trapped, bit thick would be more accurate and they deserve it.
I dont even accept store cards for the 1st order because i have enough credit cards, and thats what they are, in all-but-name.

Martin has done an article on store cards and the best way to use them

There was a poster on here the other week who got a discount of £1 or something when they took out a store card. Hardly worth it and should have waited for the grouping together or a big purchase.
