Mobile phone warranty - correct?

Can someone please tell me if my assumptions on the following are correct:
In mid December of last year, I purchased a mobile phone and took out no extended warranty or anything like that. I have now started having problems with the phone and a friend has asked me if I've dropped it, which is correct.
How long does phone warranty last for? Is it one year? And if it's longer, am I still covered by it, given that the phone not working properly is actually my fault?

If you dropped it, then you caused the damage and the warranty wouldn't cover it anyway. You would need to claim on any insurance you might have for accidental damage (home/contents policies have this as an optional extra).0

1. Length of warranty is entirely dependant on manufacturer and phone. You should be able to find this out on the website or in your paperwork.
2. Warranty won't cover dropping. You can try it on if you don't think they'll know you dropped it, but that's probably fraud.0 -

You aren't covered by any warranty at all. Warranties and the SOGA are there to cover faulty products, not to repair damage you caused yourself, that's what insurance is for.0 -
What problems are you having with the phone?
A others have said, if the fault is due to you dropping it you will not be able to get it repaired under the warranty. Although, depending on the fault, it is still possible that the handset is faulty, which would be covered by the warranty.0 -
Many moons ago in the days of analog handsets I used to help repair Panasonic phones under warranty. One particular model had a habit of the screen cracking even when just knocked. They used to replace the screen under warranty even if the customer said they dropped it.
For this to be any use to the OP then your phone must show problems of a known fault as Littlemiss27 mentioned above. In the case of the Panasonic it was a badly designed case that allowed pressure to be exerted on the LCD screen.0 -
it's to do with hearing people on the other end of the phone. I have to have the loudspeaker on just so I can hear them talk in a normal (ie, not shouting) voice. And no, I am not going deaf.Sealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked
