There is a hotel chain called formule 1. Very basic but always clean. Less than £20 for the room but they all look the same. usually near the motorways. There is also another chain called Premier Class, slightly more expensive but have a toilet (+ shower?) in the room. Both quite boring but if all you want is a bed for overnight you won't find better/cheaper. Don't bother with breakfast, stop at a supermarket en route.0

aye
premer class , or premier one is the most decent one ive found, formula is cheap, but i heard you have to share bathrooms down the hall,
as for the premierclass breakfeast, i love it, unlimited french bread and hot chocolate, fills me up for the day :-D
there is also novotel (sp?)

(i think thats the same as the billew company tho)
and campanille, which is more expensive, but has included restaurant in the place

also a quick google, and this site looks fairly helpful too

good luck and have a great holiday :-D0 -
ah
bingo
found the good site
http://www.premiereclasse.fr/index_en.html
:-D
also look at the campanille and the kyriad links
i say look at the rough area or town on the above france hotel link to see where you would want to stay, then try and find the nearest premiere class one to there :-)
oh yeah, i think with premier class you also pay per room per night, i dont know if english places charge per person, so remember to take that into account0 -
Yes, F1 you have to share toilets and showers. There is also more of them about. Personally, I prefer to pay a few quid extra for private facilities. I must stress though that both F1 and PC are pretty bland. Great if you justwant a cleane bed for the night though0

I compiled a list of European Motel chains at

One of the reasons that I like, when I use the Accor group is that I can then compare the costs from the basic (Formule 1) up to the better class of hotels when putting in a search in the area.
If you want the bathroom, then Etap, a bit more comfort, then Ibis and so on.............. all part of the Accor Group.0
