Do we need LL/LA permission?

Hi,

I'm wondering if someone can advise me.

We're currently on prepayment meters with British Gas (they were in the property when we moved in). After waking up in the cold this morning cos the gas had run out (not good when you're full of a cold and have 2 young children!), we've come to the conclusion that we'd like to be on monthly billing (it's cheaper, and there's no chance of it running out over night!). Anyway, do we need the LL/LA's permission to do this, or can we just ask BG if we can change them?

Thanks

H-E-N

The OFT have ruled (Google oft356) that you have the right to make such changes. It would be considerate to let them know what you are doing, however, maybe referring them to the OFT document.

Yup, pre-pay meters are even more of a rip-off than some LAs....

Thanks artfullodger. I'll give them a bell this morning just to let them know, hopefully they won't try and make an issue out of it.

    Thanks again,
