Hi all,
The charity has been given a desk and filing cabinet but there are no keys with them. Does anyone know how and where to get cheap new keys for these items ?

Cheers

If you can see a number or combination of letters and numbers on the lock, especially if there's a make shown, then a locksmith or good stationers may be able to get these for you. This is especially true of filing cabinets, I've never been let down yet with them!

Or you may be able to get the locks changed, but that's obviously pricier.

Or you can fit an external hasp and padlock - if the top drawer is locked then usually you can't open any of them.

if they're L+f keys then timpson will order them.
i use www.keysplease.co.uk but you need to order at least 2 keys. I've never had a problem with them.

  • We were going to order them via a website, too, as we had the same problem. But a guy down the road who cuts keys took a look and ordered them for us and cut the price by about 60% :D

Totally worth asking a locksmith first.
