Help with Excel please?

Hi Guys

Can anybody provide me help with an issue I'm struggling with?

I need to send a document I have created to quite a few people, the issue I have is when you select insert a comment into a cell the comment window opens with my surname in it ( I think as I was the author and the last person to save the document )

The recipents of my document will only have access to specific unlocked cells

I would like the comment window to open just as a blank window, I have tried altering the properties of Excel itself to remove my name that didn't work it just changed it to my christian name



Anyone who's proficient with Excel able to provide an answer, please?

According to this pdf, the user name cannot be blank.

Excel PDF look at 'Additional Comment Options' section.
Note that the User Name cannot be blank - this field must contain at least one character ...

Possible perhaps to import to Google Docs spreadsheet and then use that.

You can edit comments 'user' to whatever you want, including blank.

Change the User Name

Instead of showing the user name at the start of a comment, you can change to something generic, such as "Note:" However, this change affects the User Name in all Microsoft Office programs, so you may want to reset the name before you exit Excel.

1. Choose Tools|Options
2. Select the General tab
3. Delete the existing User Name, and type a new entry
4. Click OK

Thanks for that :T

I've changed the settings to 'NOTE' as suggested, saved the file and closed it before resetting my username back in Excel

I will attempt to open the file up on someone else's computer tomorrow to see what effect it has, hopefully it will still say note or revert to their excel username
