hi everyone,
recently my dell notebook has been coming up with error messages. One happens before start-up and states that the power adapter is not a genuine dell adapter (it is). The second, which only happened 2 or 3 times, states that my windows xp is not genuine (it is).
Lately, I have had difficulty connecting to the net intermittently.
I have had no problems since i got the computer 18 months ago (now out of warranty).
I have run avg free virus checker and ewido. I have a wireless router firewall.
I would be grateful if anyone has any ideas.
Thanks.

Could you be more specific about the error message at bootup. What model? Docking station?
Some Dells require a larger capacity power supply, and I think there is a setting in the bios to check for it.. A smaller one will work though.. D600 etc..
Did you buy it new, from Dell. If windows is reporting it as not genuine, and you bought it new, give Dell a call, and check that you have a matching serial number to the sticker on the bottom of the laptop. If it does match, and you are happy that it is a legit copy, call Microsoft.Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0
