I have the cash but need a laptop, Dell has gone up at least £50 and having had a bad experience probably want to avoid
I dont want to go to pc world or currys for obvious reasons, so lookign I guess at tesco, john lewis, dab etc etc
I cant go over £380. I am internet meainly - some downloading - iplayer etc, some photos....webcam useful...good battery life also useful but not essential, dont want notebook,

I have never heard of levano and note the cscreen is 2" smaller, so maybe keys will be quite small too?
any views?0 -
Nice specs for price but processor will slow it down a little. Only really an issue if you watch lots of vids / play games or work with lots of windows at once.
Other than that it's got all the standard stauff you'd expect.0 -
Lenovo used to be IBM laptop brand, but they sold it to some chinese company, not sure if they are any good anymore.
Doesn't really say what the graphics card is or how much Graphics RAM it has. but the processor is quite slow.Survey earnings total 2009 £417, 2010 £875, 2011 £5740 -
yes specs are better but processor is even slower than the Acer one. It all boils down to what you want it for. If you don't want all the bells and whistles that you will never use then just get a nice cheap fast one.0

cool acer it is
do u think the
http://direct.tesco.com/q/R.206-8537.aspx or the
http://direct.tesco.com/q/R.206-9915.aspx
The 2nd one appears to have 4gb rather than 3 which sounds faster but less battery and no webcam
not sure if the extra spoeed will be significant enough to be worth going for this one?0 -
oh for me fast is good0
-
oohhh....the second one's far better twice as fast too. Don't worry about built in web cams their not that good, if you want to use one on a regular basis buy a good one, they're quite cheap now.
Incidently a got a loptop from Tesco direct almost 2 years old now never had a days trouble with it. It's gateway but Acer are a good build too.0 -
The best 'general' laptop for the ££ varies from week to week - at the moment the best I have found is this Toshiba at £385 after cash back:
http://uk.insight.com/apps/productpresentation/index.php?product_id=L30029D1GB
This has a processor a couple of models up from those you are looking at. Also Toshiba are one of the better names in Laptops from experience.
Note it has Vista installed (as do many of the Tesco ones) and you would have to claim the 'free' (typically £15) upgrade disk to Windows 7 and load yourself. For me I would always go for the fastest laptop you can afford.0 -

Yes, its ended, didn't notice, 2 days late! - shame, it was the best spec available at that price. Toshiba are still doing the £50 off but on a different range of laptops now (it changes every month) - not as good a selection as far as I can see:

Tesco also had higher spec ones two weeks ago for the same ££ as those mentioned before.0
