being made redundant while on maternity leave !

Hi - I hope someone out there is able to help me . I am being made redundant and I am in the middle of my maternity leave.
I will be in the company 8 years in Jan 2010 and normally would earn over the £380pw standard redundancy pay. My contractual notice period is 8 wks.
In the redundancy package they are paying:
statutory redundancy payment of 8 wks at £380
the rest of my SMP up to March 2010
unused holidays
car allowance up to termination of employment.
However they are not paying 8 wks full pay notice period & this does seem to be the grey area?
What I need clarification on is the notice period
As per my redundancy letter my employer acknowledges that I am entitled to 8 weeks notice & this is reflected in my contract termination date but they are not paying me any notice. I was expecting 8 weeks full notice pay, is this correct & if so where can I find this information?
What is the point of having a notice period on maternity if you only get paid the SMP anyway???
It would be great to get some replies on this as its seems to be a very complicated affair.
Thanks in advance for your help.
p.s I have only been given 5 working days to dispute this I can't get an appt with the CAB until next wk & they were not able to advise me over the phone.
