A friend has phoned me saying they have this error
" Wmp cannot play this dvd because there is a problem with digital cop[y protection between your dvd drive, decoder, and video card
Try installing an updated driver for your video card"
I am quite puzzled if I am honest with it
I was going to suggest a system restore, but can anyone here recommedn anything?
The laptop is a Dell U7670 on Windows XP
And it was in Windows Media Player
Thank you

if they have been using DVDs from different regions most drives have a maximum of 5 switches between regions before they lock on the last oneEx forum ambassador

Does the suspect DVD play in an 'ordinary' set-top DVD-player?0

Has your friend tried to update the drivers ?0

It could be missing a Codec, but rather than trash the PC by downloading dodgy codec packs, it's probably better to install some third party DVD playback software - I think Nero will add in the missing codec as well. Dell's usually ship with PowerDVD, so try that first.0

Isn't that overkill? If the system concerned lacks the means to decode DVD-Video then something like this would be adequate.
However, should the problem turn out to be a matter of regional discs and/or device drivers adding codecs will not help!0
