unclaimed paypal payment

i bid on an item on 22/11/09 and paid straight away using paypal. the payment is showing as un claimed in paypal. I have tried to contact the seller but i have had no contact from them what so ever.
It says in paypal i can cancel the payment, but where would this leave me? would i get a non paying bidder strike?
I cant open up any disputes because the payment is pending.

whats the best thing to do?

thank you

  • If you've contacted them through ebay then you've got proof that you tried. I'd cancel it and wait for the seller to get in touch. Maybe they will, maybe they won't. You've done your best to try and get hold of them.

You could always try contacting them via something else they have up for sale. You could cancel the payment as if they open a NPB dispute against you you can just pay
  • they dont have anything else for sale at the moment. do i bother leaving feedback? what would happen if i cancelled the payment?

They have probably put the wrong email address in the listing. They may not realise they have done this but they can check by clicking the relist button to check the details.

You need the cancel the payment in your paypal and ask the seller to follow the instructions in this user's me page to send you a new invoice so that you will still be covered by buyer protection.

    http://members.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewUserPage&userid=classy.diva!

Give them a couple of days to respond and then leave feedback after that.

If they open a NPB dispute I'm not sure that the buyer can respond anymore but you can appeal any strike with the paypal transaction number and the strike should be removed.
