incapacity benefit and single person

No, I don't have a partner, I've always been single...no, I don't have savings, they've all gone on paying biils...no, I don't have any other income. I've been on the higher rate of IB for 14 months.
The prepaid cerificate for prescriptions is £104 for the year and, as I said, I just don't have that money to spare. As it is, I get half the meds when I get my benefit payment and then have to get the others a fortnight later when I get another benefit payment.
Maybe I'm just one of those people that slips through every hole in the Benefits net
Most people on IB dont get anything extra, IB is set a few pence more than IS for that very reason so dont feel sorry for yourself, your in the same boat as many others.
Why not do the sensible thing as already suggested in this thread and pay just over £10 per month for the first ten months of a 12 month ten month pre payment certificate, that what the rest of us do who cant get anything extra on top of IB.
£10 is less than 1 1/2 scripts per month and you get two months where you pay nothing in the twelve month covered by the card.
Your being very silly dening yourself medicine by paying for half that costs more than the pre payment certificate.
Wait and see how tight the purse strings are after a 14 years, not 14 months.0 -
Anyone that has been on IB for more than a year gets the Disability Premium which, despite sunnyone's rant, actually brings the means tested benefit above the rate of most peoples IB.0

since the OP has been on IB for 14 months she gets and mentioned the fact in her post that she gets the higher rate of IB I fail to see why you posted the above apart from having another go at people on IB should be grateful that they worked and paid into the system and get penalised where by the people who havnt get more as is usual in the benefit system.0 -
I said it because IS, including the DP, is higher than the long-term rate of IB.since the OP has been on IB for 14 months she gets and mentioned the fact in her post that she gets the higher rate of IB I fail to see why you posted the above apart from having another go at people on IB should be grateful that they worked and paid into the system and get penalised where by the people who havnt get more as is usual in the benefit system.
I know your panties are in a twist about the abolition of the totally unfair top-up of IB but !!!! happens.0 -

Well, yes...now that've had chance to read the thread!! I wasn't aware that a Prepaid Certificate could be paid for on a monthly basisYour being very silly dening yourself medicine by paying for half that costs more than the pre payment certificate.
