Monitoring my gas use
Apologies if this has been asked before, but I couldn't find the info on a search...
I have just had a new boiler installed and would like to be able to monitor my gas use to see how using the heating in different ways and different temperatures affects my costs. I have an Owl monitor for my electric use and would like to do something similar with gas. Is there anything out there that would help? Even if it was a manual thing where I had to nip out and jot down the meter reading and plug it into an online calculator at regular points would be helpful - does anyone know of anything like this?

...or just work out how much your effective monthly standing charge is and work out how much one meter unit and one tenth of a meter unit costs you at the tier 2 tariff rates.
eg if your unit charge is 2.7p per kWh then one metric meter unit costs you 11.2 * .027 or 30pence. Or a bit more than 3 units to the pound. If you have an imperial meter then one meter unit is about 32 kWh so a bit more than 1 unit to the pound.
Essentially on a metric meter you get 3 units to the pound, on an imperial meter it is one unit to the pound. In addition you have a monthly flat charge of £3.50 to £12, (tier 1 - tier 2 x 4672 / 12)0 -
