If you haven't bought your roller yet, buy a good one. I recently bought 2 cheap as chips rollers from Asda and they went hard after one use...and they don't quite fit the tray nor do they roll that well!
Good luck, I'm currently doing the same thing in my new home...trying to cover the previous owners bright colour choices 8)Shanni0 -
Just a word of warning....If you use silk or sheen emulson, then beware that you can then only over paint with silk or sheen NOT matt.
If you paint matt over silk it will crack. I speak from experience >:(
I even called Dulux helpline and they confirmed it. It looked so aweful that I was told that I had to scrape it all off...... no chance, I papered it!!What goes around - comes around
give lots and you will always recieve lots0 -
Just back from a 12hr marathon (or should that read paintathon?) session at the house.
Fortunately it was Matt that I picked up, so all's well on that front - esp considering that there are eves, strange bends and arches - not too keen to paper over that lot!
As for the roller - I have to admit that I went to Tesco and got the value pack - it works well. Also, as I am painting all the rooms in white at the moment, have just wrapped it up in a plastic carrier bag - this prevents it from drying out, and no need to clean as it is going to be used with the same paint.
Seriously considering getting a good quality brush and doing the final coat with that - the finish is considerably better from experience. Unfortunately, the job does take a LOT longer ....
But, day off tomm - instead going to John Lewis to get my washing machine (annoying as they cannot take gift vouchers over the phone!).
Let's hope that the high winds don't prevent me from getting to Edinburgh!!One day I want to be the pigeon...... and not the statue!0
