Getting a refund from bathmart

A few weeks ago I ordered a bathroom suite from bathmart.co.uk and paid £933 for it on my egg card. Bathmart made various promises that they failed to keep and ultimately failed to supply the goods in their stated timeframe or give me a definite delivery day so I cancelled the order. They accepted this and promised a refund. When the refund didn't materialise I contacted egg about it. They sent me some forms to fill in and return. I have done this but now they tell me it could take 3 weeks before their complaints team get round to dealing with it. I am disgusted with their response and have told them so.

Any suggestions as to what I should do now ?

It is Bathstore who you should be taking it out upon.

If its any consolation we had to cancel an item that we ordered with them and although it took them a long time (several weeks) they did eventually refund my card. I would phone bathmart and harass them as well as Egg.

How exactly ? I'm too far away to visit and I believe that the CC company are jointly liable for the performance of the contract. At the least I expected them to freeze or recall the payment and not add it to my balance until the matter was sorted out.

You are correct and they are not trying to stuff you though are they - they will want to carry out their investigation and then if needs be refund you - what is the problem?

The problem is that egg will take £933 from my bank account on Dec 14th which I do not owe to anyone. As far as carrying out an investigation is concerned all they need to do is read the email from bathmart that I sent them with my claim form. It says "we accept the cancellation and will issue a refund". I am annoyed that egg thinks it's OK to take 3 weeks to get round to reading that email and acting on it. I know from running a business that accepted CCs years ago that egg could reverse the transaction in an instant if they wanted. It is because they act so slowly that fly boys like bathmart flourish.
  • It is because so many people try it on that Egg or any other card provider will not do as you ask.
