When applying for credit cards, do they check your Application answers?
When applying for credit cards, online or over the phone, do the application people check the answers which you have provided such as:
-check that you live at that address,
-that you are that age,
-that you dont have any more credit cards?
- that you are single
-that you have no loans, mortgages
-that you havn't applied for any other cards recently?
do they check or it is a automated computer processed system which checks and then after this gives you a score, therefore this automated system decides whether you are accepted or declined for a credit card?
if they do check things, which kind of things do they check upon??

Inconsistencies between applications will be detected by fraud prevention agencies such as CIFAS. It is a criminal offence to lie on an application form, not to mention if it is detected, it will destroy your credit file for years to come. The information you put on any application is sent to CIFAS and is checked against your previous applications, so if there's a massive increase in your income, within a short space of time, that'll raise some eyebrows.
In addition to using CIFAS, lenders can use other techniques to find out if someone is lying, such as looking at credit limits of any credit cards an applicant currently holds. For example, if someone has a card with £1000 credit limit, but states on a new application their income is £70,000... lenders will wonder why such a high earner would have a tiny limit.
Lenders can and will, at their discretion ask an applicant for identification to verify their address and income.
Yeah, it's possible to lie on an application, and if you're lucky, you may get away with it, but it isn't worth it consider the consequences if found out, not to mention it is illegal and not a smart thing to do.We’ve had to remove your signature. I recently made an application which involved a credit check which was rejected, but it was a seriously non-demanding thing and my credit is fine so I have begun to think they misspelt something on my application, or I accidentally got a date wrong when they typed it in. If this were the case, do you think would this be a reason for a random denial? And if so, do you think would that be considered an illegal act on my part, and be considered 'caught' given the denial?
I wanted to ask, too, is there a way to find out exactly what information is on my record so I do not get that wrong? Not that I am lying, but I don't want to have some date wrong that they think I am trying to commit something fraudulent or something?2013 Wombles onto Giftcard Challenge £0/£1200
