Hi
I am thinking of buying a DSLR, I am in no rush, but do I wait til the sales after xmas, or is it unlikely that DSLR will have offers on them anyway?
Thanks

What Sales....
If your after a popular DSLR you may find demand has out stripped supply.
Nikon et al slimmed down production expecting a downturn in sales, the opposite has happened in the DSLR market.0 -
It depends on what DSLR you want. Canon are currently offering £30 cash back on the EOS 450D and £50 on the EOS 500D but this is only for cameras bought before 24th Dec.

SPCome on people, it's not difficult: lose means to be unable to find, loose means not being fixed in place. So if you have a hole in your pocket you might lose your loose change.0 -
Is there any chance the 500D (with 18-55 lens) will get lower than £450 after cashback?Eleventh Heaven #23101 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 110

Not a lot lower I shouldn't think. I was given a Sony DSLR last Christmas and the same model is only £20 cheaper now than it was this time last year. Don't forget you have the VAT rise due on Jan 1st...0

Back when I bought my 500D in August it was £650, I found it for £620 at Jessops so I went to Currys and got them to price match bringing it down another few £'s
A few weeks later the price had dropped even further to £570 but I needed it for my holiday at the begining of September so I wasnt bothered.
Will the prices get cheaper? yes but I think they will only go a lot cheaper oncee the 500D is replaced and it will then take the prices that the 450D are currently available for.
DSLR cameras rarely have any decent discounts on them, companies don't discount them by much more than 2-5% as when your talking £5000 for the 1D then the discount can build up but it isnt really much. They also rarely discount lenses. I have been watching them for a while and just took the plunge as they didn't move that much. but then again the 500D is reasonably still a new camera. just watch out for the cashback offers that canon do.0 -
i bought my d90 for 745 about 6 moonths ago and its now at £800 because of nikons price hike0

Meant to add: don't forget that VAT is due to revert back to 17.5% Jan 1st.Come on people, it's not difficult: lose means to be unable to find, loose means not being fixed in place. So if you have a hole in your pocket you might lose your loose change.0
