Informing WFTC about a new baby in the house

I have an existing WFTC and CTC claim for my two kids and i have just had a baby.

Should i ring WFTC now and tell them about the baby, I have the birth certificate, or do i have to wait till the Child Benefit claim starts? I sent CB forms off today.....

Also, I have started maternity leave and as such am on reduced pay now, do i need to tell them now? I calculated the drop in wage in my estimations i gave in April, so not sure if I have to actually physically tell them now or not? I am returning to work next September.

Any help or advice related to new babies and WFTC claims and Maternity pay etc would be received very greatfully in simple terms as my brain is like a mushy banana at the present.

Inform tax credits now you don't have to wait until CB is awarded.

  • hi no you don't have to wait just call them and give your babys name and date of birth, you will have to send off the childs birth certificate when you put in your child benefit claim though.

As the other replies said you don;t need to wait just give them a call to add your new baby (congratulations!!)

Regarding your work you only need to inform tax credits if/when you take unpaid mat leave because you have already informed them of your change in income.
