confused about thermostat
So I have 'off', 'auto', 'once', 'cont...'
I have the setting as:
morning - 7 to 9am
evening - 9 to 10:30pm
These settings come up on screen when I have it set to 'once', 'auto' just shows date. I have just felt some of the radiators and they are on, not high but on. Why is this should it be on 'auto'?

not sure i 100% understand but my understanding of heating is:
off - well that one anyone can work out
auto - generally 2x a day as your times indicate, once in morning, once in evening according to your times
once - turns on at 7am as set in the first timer, then switches off at 10:30 as the 2nd timer
cont - on 100% off the time, opposite of off I suppose
As for showing date/times, I am not clear what that achieves.
Radiators on, not high but on indicates to me that maybe there is air in them, so they need bleeding, or they have separate raidator thermostate valves on them, so they have already heated the room and so switched off and slowly cooling down till room is cool enough for them to switch on again.
My thermostat can be changed for the day of week also, such as weekends we have the heating come on a little later as we are on a lie in, also the house is more occupied so it comes on earlier in the afternoon whereas in the week it only switches on before we get home from work? It nearly always stays on Auto/ (called twice in our case)
Not sure it answers the question, but I hope it helps0 -
Sounds like my timer - Honeywell I think.
As far as I can tell (well it works like this in my house)
Off = heating is off completely
Auto = heating comes on and off at the times specified by you
Once = heating comes on at your first time (7am) and goes off at the latest time (10.30pm)
Continuous = on 24/7
Regarding your radiator temperature check each individual radiator and see what they are set at, check your main wall thermo stat and see what that is set at. I have all my radiators on MAX and then adjust my wall thermostat accordingly.
DILFRED - yep I would be inclined to agree with you!Banana LoversBuy your bananas in bunches of 5 on Sunday. Then arrange them in order of ripeness and write a day of the week on each banana in felt pen, Monday on the ripest, Friday on the greenest to save time making those decisions on a hectic weekday morning0 -
See that's where I went wrong as auto didn't bring up times on screen I had it on once lol0

Then if you had it on 'once' it was on from 7am to 10.30pm.No free lunch, and no free laptop0

That would be a timer not a thermal stat.0
