I am hoping some one here can help. I have been trawling through a few cake recipe books and on a couple of them it asks you to use rice flour either white or brown.
I have scoured the shelves in the supermarkets to no avail in the bakery isle and googling has drawn a blank. So does anyone have a clue what this is and what can be used as an alternative failing me being able to source any. Thanks in advance.

I have never used it, but if supermarkets fail, you should be able to find some in a health food shop x0

You should be able to buy Natco brand Asian Rice Flour in Tesco. You could also look for Mochiko in the Japanese section or Pirinç Unu in the Turkish section of a deli.Debt-free day: 8th May 2015 "Remember that sometimes not getting what you want is a wonderful stroke of luck," Dalai Llama0

I buy mine from the baking isle at Morissons. It comes in a box rather than a bag, so you may of have missed it if you were looking for a bag before.
Failing that, you can make your own rice powder by grinding rice!0 -
Is it on the shelf with the standard flours as i have checked the big three SM's we have and cant find it in any. We dont have Mr T'S. I also checked the ethnic section in Asda to no avail.:j Was married 2nd october 2009 to the most wonderful man possible:j

Dove's farm do some - it's normally with the gluten free flours. It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0

I think the Doves Farm gluten free flour is mostly rice."Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad"

Check the Gluten free section of supermarkets rather than the usual flour section. I have a bag in reserve that i bought for making gluten free alternatives like batter etc for my gluten free customers. I found it with the gluten free stuff, tho have since found it in my local health food shop too, and would rather support them than the huge supermarkets!
Good luck!

i use rice flour alot. it is in a red box ,made by whitworths. you won't find it in the flour aisle. it is usually with the tapioca, pudding rice and sugar's. it is i think about 70p a box. it was alot cheaper, but shot up in price last year and hasn't come back down.
this is what it looks like

It's normally labelled as ground rice so if you are looking for rice flour there's a chance you may have missed it. Just look in the ethnic sections of the supermarket. Happy baking. There are many things in life that will catch your eye, only a few will catch your heart. Pursue those.0
