Legal + General Insurance Carry On

 Last week I dropped my laptop down the stairs by accident - insured with Asda Contents Policy. 6 days after reporting it to Asda I get a call from Legal and General to confirm the claim. I was told someone will call, they did the day after to book an appointment with someone else, who then called the day after..... 1 hour of questions, asking me to repeat things over and over again, statements etc..... all for a £400 laptop. I felt like I was under caution. In the end I was told to take the laptop myself to a computer store (not PC World) and get an assessment report which they wouldn't guarantee they would pay for and to send the report in for it to be assessed. I have had 8 years of claim free insurance. It has made me realise what am I actually paying for.

You've experienced conversation management - a technique used to weed out fraudulent claims.
The laptop dropped down the stairs is a common fraudulent claim - usually when people want to upgrade an ageing laptop.
The questions were repeated over and over, usually with slight variations just to ensure you were consistent with your answers. They might have also used a voice stress analyser to gauge how you responded.0
