White mites in my bedroom

Hello
I have just moved into my bedroom after a few months of being in the property. Everything has been cleaned & new carpet fitted.
At the weekend I was about to go to sleep & switch the light off when I noticed these small white/cream insects on my light & on the bedroom furniture, about 1/2mm, you could only see them in the light. They were pretty soft, as I squashed a few but they were all over everything on my bedside cabinet. I have cleaned & vacuumed & they are still there, abeit not as many but they won't seem to go away. Apparently they are too small to be carpet beetle.
There is an old cupboard just next to the bed which has a very old door attached. Not sure what that could mean.
Anyway there is no signs of any birds in the loft so bird mites are ruled out I think.
They don't seem to be blood suckers, bed bugs. They also move pretty quickly form something so small. They only seem to be on my furniture.
The room has been empty for about a year with hardly any heat.
Anyone any ideas? I need help!!

sound like fly larvae to me(maggots)
I was on a security job once and we had to barrack up in an old warehouse,we set up camp in an unused(5years) office got some heating on went out on 'ops' came back a day later opened the door and the place was FULL of flies,:eek:, we had to destroy all our kit
you really need to get a professional in to fumigate the room and poss the whole house,in the meantime turn the heating off and keep a vigilant eye on them, whenever you see them hoover up as when they turn to flies they will lay eggs againI

No, I don't think its flies/maggots.
I had the same in a flat I rent, I don't know what exactly they are, but I just gave place a good clean, hoovered them all up and not seen any for weeks now.0 -
Can you post a picture of them?"You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0
