debt collector on to me

hi
i sent a letter to lloyds tsb back in april 2007 going through the process of claiming back my bank charges, i received a few responses from them saying that everything was on hold until the courts had made a ruling. not being too sure on what to do i held off until 2008 asking for a response to my claim, i got a letter again saying that they were still on hold but if your were in hardship you could proceed with the claim however they didn't state what they consider to be in hardship, with no other correspondence from lloyds i waited, however they were still adding bank charges to my account all the time and have now passed this on to a debt collector as i was still in dispute with them can they do this and if so how do i proceed and if not can you tell me what i should do next this is really starting to worry me and I'm feeling quite sick from it all
many thanks in advance

  • Might be worth telling them that the debt is currently under dispute as far as you are concerned with the bank.

if the debt isnt that large a sum of money dont worry about it too much, they will just ask you for an affordable amount that you can pay,you can work out how much you can afford and offer them that, ive had similar situations arise, debt companies are forcefull but are not too severe, its not worth the worry over this.

or you could fight your corner if you believe your right
missed direct debit charges, very odd, theres no pain so how come the big gain,i.e £39.00 for a letter
