I'm waiting for good deal and package.0

The package deal I saw was £2500 for five nights. That was with tickets to one group game.
I did enter the draw for tickets, but didn't get any. I think you could do it for £1500 but that is still too rich for me, and partly I am put off by the various stories I have heard about South Africa. There are lots of positives, but also lots of negatives. I expect that security would be stepped up for the World Cup and any tourists being harmed would be very bad publicity.0 -

Packages are way to expensive.
RE ACCOMODATION. MY advice would be to hold off. SA is in a frenzy mood at the moment. They are under the impression that people will pay what ever they ask. There are not going to be the expected numbers going to SA and accomodation will be easier and cheaper nearer to the tourny. It's actually quite disgusting the mark up on the normal rates they are trying to acheive.0 -
I've been shopping around for the last couple of days. The prices are just extortionate on flights and accommodation, with the added T&C on most hotels who are asking for a minimum of 5-7 days stay. I have tickets to the semis, but with premiums like this, it makes you think twice.0

Hi , I know two people that live in Capetown , and they have accomodation , one is B and B with evening meal if required they are good friends of mine ( i used to live in Capetown)they are alovely couple and very friendly. The other is a lady that lets out her bungalow it sleeps 8 and has 2 bathrooms , you would have the use of the whole house as she moves into the maids rooms. I can give you the phone numbers of both , i also know this lady very well , that acc would be self contained and you would have to get your own meals. The first one will also pick up from airport if required.
I am not sure if i can give put phone numbers on this page so dont know how to get in touch . sure you will be happy with either acc and sure they wont charge over the top . from janet0 -
Hi im going to the world cup for about 4 weeks and like other scots/irish ppl i'm just going to random games rather than following any team. I'm trying to book as much as i can before i get over there all thats left is internal flights (which have apparently trebled in price) and 3 days accomodation in joburg. Just wondering how much ppl think i will need per day as spending money. It's a pretty budget-trip and im staying in hostels not hotels. So how much will food etc. cost for everyday. And any idea of taxi prices for about 10km between hostel and stadium? I'm a student/postman so im trying to stretch my funds as far as possible!0

i'm off to the World cup and have travelled in SA (2005) for around 6 weeks. internal flights are expensive at the minute (£4/500 return from Joburg to Cape Town), a much cheaper way is the train whcih i have taken and is safe. Only problem is it takes ages as the country is so big. Info here, but you can only book 90 days in advance by phone so a while away yet. A one way fare to Cape town from Joburg will be about £25 (i think)

From what i remember taxis and Rickshaws (sp) were pretty cheap and should be fine. plus hostels will probably put on transport to the games/you'll be able to share with others in the hostels.
Oh and if there's any Chile, Swiss or Honduras fans about i might have some spare tickets!0
