Service for low mileage car?

If the car is brand new, your service book will be a good indicator as to what service is required.
And in order to keep the warranty valid,it'll have to be done by the dealer I'm afraid.
However,if the car was a second hand one, then if you give us some more details about it,age, current mileage etc, then we may be able to enlighten you.

More or less what Quinny said, just to add a little used car sometimes needs MORE attention, than a heavier used one!!
You might find some compnents like brakes will build up rust & need to be cleaned & manually adjusted, where averege use would do this themselves.
Also the oil willl CERTAINLY need changing after this time, assuming it's stop start, or cold runs, it's had.
If it's a year old model, it might be worth leaving the actual oil change for another 4-5000 miles, as current thinking is to have around 8-10000 miles on its original oil., to run the engine in.
Let us know more about the car & we'll put you right!

Thanks for your replies!
I'm the second owner, it's an 03 Punto and had done about 29k when I got it last July.
As the three year warranty is just about up I've booked it in with a local (reliable!) garage rather than taking it back to the dealership.
They have quoted me around £127 for the MOT and service, so wondered if there was any such thing as a `mini-service`!!

No, thats about right, every 12 month or 10000 miles normally,0

if you look in your book most car makers these days list the normal service times then also they include a small section on 'low user services'
the minimum you should have every year is an oil/filter and have the front brakes stripped and cleaned(to prevent siezing) then have a full service every 3rd year. so you have 2 little 1 big.
for £127 i would expect an oil/filter change and a brake check+mot.
BTW brake check in my opinion should mean a wheels off/pads out check, not your usual look from behind scam like the fast fits do.0 -

Not any more. Under EU law (Block Exemption) you can service you car at any VAT registered garage that uses oem or better parts
In answer to the original question, yes you should get it serviced, as some stuff needs replacing faster through low mileage, i.e. clutches for 5000 miles stop/start is worse than 100,000 on the motorway in 6th gear
