fault with samsung tv

i have a fault with my samsung tv,when i switch it on,it clicks on and off a number a number of times,before switching itself on,and also makes a noise when doing this.i researched this fault on the internet and seems to be a very common fault.my tv is only 2 years old,and when i contacted samsung regarding this they told me they were unable to do anything about it.they also said and i quote from the e-mail they sent me;

"Samsung would recommend that you speak to your retailer as you are protected under the Sales of Goods Act 1979, however this does not apply to Samsung, as you did not buy the product from our selves.

When you bought the unit you entered in a contract of sale with your retailer, whichmeans they should provide you with a quality product.

Your retailer then also has a contract with Samsung, and that is the manufacturing warranty.

Samsung will repair any faults that may occur with the unit within the first year of purchase, anything after that it is up to your retailer.

I would advise that you speak with Trading Standards and Citizens advice regarding this, to see what your options are.

I hope thishas been of some assistance to you. If you do have any
further queries, please do not hesitate to contact us quoting your 210-
reference number."

Kind Regards
Amy

i am going to contact curry's who i bought it from regarding this matter, and would like some advice on how i should go about it,i know they may ask for an engineers report, but this is such a common problem, surely all the info about this problem on the internet should suffice,as the engineer would just say what is already been said.
any advice would be most welcome.

thanks scott

I had the exact same problem with my samsung monitor last year. Samsung sorted it out very quickly, even collecting and giving a temporary christmas tv while they replaced mine.

Mine was 2 1/2 yrs old when it went wrong. the light comes on and then goes off. you keep turning it on untill it finally crackles the speakers and comes on.

well monitor tvs have 3 yrs warrenty, the tvs only 1yr. But yep go to curry's , take along printouts of forums and discussion of people with the same problem. That will help prove its an inherant fault. Check out Martin's GMTV website as today he was talking about sales of goods act and how you should use it.

  • i had a problem with my samsung lcd where it would keep making the relay clicking noise. After looking around on the internet and then taking the back cover off it turned out to be the common fault of blown/swollen capacitors. once replaced it fixed the problem

anyone got any ideas on what my next move should be?
  • Quite literally become a thorn in curry's side!

A friend of mine who bought a 50" samsung plasma which cost about £1600 went kapoot after 14 months and left them with a 50" radio as the screen wouldn't work!

My friend battled hard with them and eventually they refunded him over £800 unfortunately as a credit note for use in store, but it still felt like a battle was won!

    Good luck.

    Yes, get an engineers report.

Anecdotes on the internet are NOT evidence.
    Squirrel!
If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.
    Now 20% cooler
  • Scotty 1971, have a look at this thread and you will see my comments about 2/3 of the way down. Best of luck with Curry's! It will be a battle, but you should get there in the end.
