Fitting a 3 port valve

following on from my other question. is fitting these valves 'easy' to do or really a job for an expert? and DH is saying does the system need draining, and will water spurt out everywhere if he changes it without emptying the system?

Is your friend's husband charging £100 for the valve and £100 for the service?

My son replaced my divertor valve a few years ago (~£40, cheap) when I popped out for half hour, undone 3 nuts and swapped out the faulty unit. Give it a go yourself and be THE expert?
