Does this relate to a PHI policy though? If this relates to a general insurance policy (which I assume at this stage it does) then it shouldn't be mixed up with the PHI. NU general insurance is awful and I wouldn't touch them personally or professionally. NU life and pensions are far better and although they share trading names, they do operate separately. I have no problem recommending the life and pensions side.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. forgot to mention does anybody know of a genuine personal injury solicitor who doesnt just take the money to look at the claim but actually does the job ?
it is very difficult to change solicitor after capita have appointed their panel member but you DONT have to except there choice0 -
we do have life insurance with them as well
maybe i am on the wrong thread ?0 -

NU PHI comes under the life and pensions side and not the general insurance side.
General insurance covers motor, household, liaiblity, commercial insurance, health (as in private medical), accident, morgage protection (ASU/MPPI) and a few other areas.
Life and pensions covers nearly all investment contracts and most personally underwritten contracts (such as life, CI and PHI).I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Oh cr*p
just checked out my various insurance policies I get via work and I have 'disability' insurance (which covers sickness - i work for an american firm) - and the provider is...
UNUM
:-(
now i am wondering whether to take out my own policy seeing as UNUM have such a bad rep.0 -
You could always mention that in the US UnumProvident agreed in a class action settlement to reconsider 200,000 denied claims.
Their plan is what my employer offfers as well, so I'm looking for persuasive facts to encourage them to consider a different provider. Facts, pointers to industry discussion of their quality and better compromise choice suggestions are welcome.
Data doing something like showing them selling 10% of all policies and being responsible for 40% of all complaints would be very helpful. 0 -
Trying to track them down but apparently there is a unum protest group who can help you with your claims, they even have a Barrister who does nothing else but take them to court. Will post info on here when i get it..
Insurance ombudsman are well aware of their reputation and there have been several instances of MP's bringing up info about them in Parliment but i was tol that dear old Tony wn't touch them because they do a lot of work for him. They set up the paperwork for incapacity and DLA medcal boards apparently. All smells a bit fishy to me...
I got the video btw, 24hrs ish being watched=50 odd mins of me on tape, ( 4 mins aprox of me walking, rest of time standing on one leg so non weight baring on bad leg or me leaning on a table.) In letter it says i was filmed walking for hours...mmmmmm They also taped me at a private function which was naughty. They say it wasn't signposted as no entry to general public so tough but the entire venue had been hired for a event which you had to preregister..
funny thing was i saw the dirty van parked just down road and nearly phoned police cause it loked dodgy! wouldn't it have been funny if i had! lol

Pioneer's claim paying record is fantastic, but they underwrite very strictly at outset. The plan is totally different to NU's, of which I have little experience claims wise, and you should speak to an IFA.
