help! too much braised cabbage!!

so i followed the recipie, bunged it all in the slow cooker and it is delish. :D BUT there's way too much!! I think I could feed the whole street! Can I freeze it?

It's 1 red cabbage, 1 onion, some raisins, chilli, a little stock and balsamic vinegar. Sorry if this should be in S/C quick questions. I don't really fancy canning it to be honest, so does anyone think it would freeze ok? Cheers.

Its freezes perfectly. I do it every Chistmas in advance.

EDIT: You can reheat it from frozen in the oven. I normally freeze it in foil tubs for that reason.

I make the Delia one, I have not tried it in the slow cooker. Mine is too small for the full size recipe anyway + there is very little liquid:

Yes you can freeze it. I'd do it in the plastic take-away containers you get from the chinese and then they can go in the microwave. I love this with roast Pork or Christmas Dinner.

I've got 12 portions in the freezer due to OH bringing an 8lb red cabbage from the allotment:eek: It freezes beautifully! I adapted Delia's recipe and added a little recurrant jelly to sweeten it up a bit.

thanks everyone! the cabbage was a big hit, and bonus : cold the next day it made a nice salad.

the 1 cabbage +1 onion ect filled my 3.5 slow cooker to the brim, so i've been amazed at how much it made and how far it has gone. after having 2 1/2 portion tasters and 2 portions with dinner, i froze 3 chinease tubs, gave a tub to my mum whose never cooked red cabbadge either, and i had the leftovers for breakfast!?!

thanks for the link and the other ideas, humm, redcurrent jelly? yum!

Well, Delia made braised red cabbage on the TV prog the other night and said it was good to freeze, in fact she made extra to freeze. I'm intending to make some for Christmas Day, as I don't like sprouts, and get it done in advance & freeze, so think yours should be OK?
