Survey Refund?

Hi all,
I have just moved into my new house. At the weekend I moved a garden bench that was positioned underneath my patio window (the window in raised up). Behind it I noticed a large hole and the wooden sill was rotten.
I've just taken a look at my survey as I I dont remember it being mentioned.
My survey states: "There is some evidence of softening to remaining external timber joinery though there is presently no evidence of significant rot"
Am i able to get a refund on these grounds?
Thanks

i doubt it very much - he has highlighted "softening" - so he has brought it to your attention. wooden sills dont cost that much to replace.0

Anyway you wouldn't be asking for a refund, you would be asking for recompense in putting right something the surveyor should have spotted.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Moving items of furniture & such when surveying properties is something surveyors do not do & you will probably find something along these lines in the small print of your survey.
Not every defect is picked up on a survey unless they are glaringly obvious alas. The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.0
