Oh - I have a 10 yo boy cat and a 2.5 yo GS dog, they get on fine no probs at all.
Some weeks ago took on a friend's cat, cute 2 yo female and had to ask my friend to take her back as went through several duvets (thought she was peeing on our beds).
Kitty went back to my friend, peeing on duvets stopped.
2 weeks ago my daughter went away for a few days - peeign on beds started again.
Only then I worked out it was not the "new" kitty 9which was gone by then) but my odl boy - showing his dissaproval of my daughter not being here (he sleeps with her).
So - it was probably him when the other kitty was here - he was not happy about it (although they seemed to get on fine) so he was peeing on the beds. I wonder if he has done it on purpose so we would "get rid" of the other cat and "things would get back to normal".. cats ARE clever like that so I would not put it past him.
Obvioulsy him peeing on beds again was to show he is not happy with my daughter not being here.
What I am getting at - cats can react in funny way to anything changing around them as they are very much creatures of habit.
And it really can be ANYTHING.
Hope you find out what stresses out your cat and manage to sort this out.
Congratulations of being able to look after a cat to this age - my one is just over 10 and last year has developed kidney problems...on medication to control it now and he seems happy enough but I do realise it can turn bad any time....
All the best0 -

Hi Sorry to hear about your wee cat. You must be a really good owner for your wee cat to reach the ripe old age of 16 as 14 is average for a cat.
It's not unusual these days for cats to live late into their teens and beyond. I've certainly seen a number of relatively healthy cats in their early 20's - I think one of the oldest cat's we ever saw was 29yrs old, a huge tabby/white boy, but he was rather an unusual case. I don't know what the world record is, anyone?
My youngest cat is 17yo now and fit as a fiddle, could easily pass for a cat half her age!“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0
