Samsung DVD Player Fault...HELP!

I have had a Samsung DVDS224 standalone DVD player for about a year but now it doesn't play any of my recordable DVD's. Had no problems before, now all of a sudden it will only play my standard movies i.e DVD9's. Not too worried as it didn't cost me anything but was wondering if anyone had any idea's.
