My partner is not working, he was self employed but has not had any work since November 08 but had a substantial amount of savings that he could live on so he still paid his share of the bills and i paid mine.
His savings have run out and now he is looking for any work but needs JSA whilst he finds something.
He has applied for income based JSA but they have told him that as a couple we need £100.95 a week to live on and my child needs £0 therefore turning him down for JSA because of my mat pay, he cannot get contrinution based because he never paid his NI contributions for the previous tax year
Is there nothing else we can do, I am on SMP, i have no other income, i am still waiting fot tax credits to come through

If you get more than the £100 a week then he won't be entitled to jsa as you are earning more than the minimum the government says you need to live on per week.
you should still he entitled to help with your rent if your renting0 -
oh okay so i guess the £123.06 i get from mat pay is for both of us! Okay, thanks, this is all new to me!0

When does SMP end?
JSA(IB) would be more beneficial than SMP I think.0 -
My SMP ends in 15 weeks.
He has been told he cannot get JSA IB or contribution based0 -
He wont be paid JSA(IB) while SMP exceeds the £100.95. If that stops then JSA(IB) will be payable from what you previously said.BenefitHelp wrote: »My SMP ends in 15 weeks.
