Hi Mrs E
I had a look about as you made me curious
It seems the sausage McD's use is just "American Breakfast Sausage", and there is a recipe here you might like to try:

Better than McD's sausage...more authentic to American breakfast sausage:
http://homesicktexan.blogspot.com/2008/02/breakfast-sausage-to-begin-day.html (cut down on the red pepper flakes/cayenne if you don't want the spice; also, if you can't find marjoram, oregano works fine)
I love these because I miss traditional spicy American-style breakfast sausage, especially the kind we got down South (genuine Texan talking here!!). McD's is okay, but something about the texture is off. These are fantastic, trust me.

They do a good quality sausage patty in the Morrison Butcher's Sausage range - I think it is pork and apple. As you say, though, it is the mix of herbs and spices that will be the problem - you can take the skin off any sausage and squish the innards into a similar patty'
How about just buying some of the McDonalds ones the day before, zoom home and chill, and then reheat the next morning? Or if you find a friendly manager, maybe they'll let you buy a few uncooked?0 -
IIRC one of the spices is quite a bit of pepper and sage, they are pork sausage 'patties' not burgers.
They won't sell you them uncooked
Must more finely ground pork than is in Lorne sausage which when I have tried it was lump & full of yuk (I buy my sausages from a farm so maybe a little fussy?)One day I might be more organised...........
GC: £200

This sounds great, thank you for the link!!
I used to buy frozen sausage squares from Iceland and they were really delicious but I doubt I would like them so much nowadays...:rotfl:My nephews love them though.
