Quick question about Tax Credits

Hi, ive just got some quick (silly!) questions about tax credits that I couldn't find an answer to on the 'net.
Do I pay tax on tax credits?
If I have to leave the country because of a family death would I inform the IR so they can stop the claim until I come back, whats the longest I can be away?
Is this the same amount of time for a 'holiday'? (Just out curiosity
)
If I work 9-6, monday to friday do I have to inform the IR if I go away friday night to sunday?
What do I have to do if I go away for a weeks break (in the UK) in the summer (the joy of family reunions
), is there someone I have to inform? What about if I was still working my 9-6 days (lap top, wireless internet etc :rolleyes: )?
I said they were silly questions, thanks for reading :beer:

Tax creidts are a non taxable benefit and as long as your ordinarily resident and go abroad only for a short period you should be okay, you dont need to inform them about holidays etc etc.
See the link for specifics
http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/manuals/tctmanual/TCTM02004.htmI no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.0
