Confusing info from Abbey National

I have an Abbey card with which I'm stoozing.
Their website and my paperwork says that the promotional 0% period is 9 months from account opening.
I opened the account on 16th Novemeber which makes then end date 16th August.

I have recently asks them when it finishes.
The first time I was told 6th September (which is my payment date).
The second time I was told 12th September (which is my statement date).

Should I ignore what I've been told on the phone and pay off by 16th August.

My head tells me I should do this but it's a shame they can't give me the right info.
I HAD to phone them because I couldn't find the account opening date anywhere.

Any advice appreciated.

If it helps, I *believe* the Virgin (also run by MBNA) 0% expiry date is the statement date following the date 'which is 9 months from account opening' (if that makes sense?).

In your position, I'd check my statement online on the 12th August to check that the interest payable next month (September) is zero. If it is, then you're OK to pay by the statement (NOT the payment) date in September. If it's not zero, then you should pay the balance ASAP.

I posted a similar query a while back, looks like YorkshireBoy is right, I will be paying in time to meet the info that I have received, which seems to be the statement date nine months after applying, effectively ten months for me.....
