Network Sharing Problem

Options
My setup is

Imac running OS X Tiger

Lenovo T60 on XP

New Samsung NC10 on XP

Netgear Wireless Router/Hub and Networked 500Gb HD connected to hub by ethernet

The Samsung is a new purchase and I wanted to move files from Mac to it - simple I set up a shared folder on the NC10 and could connect to it from MAc and copy away.

I now need to install software from CD and have tried setting up sharing on the T60 so the NC10 can see its drive but although I have turned sharing on for the D drive and a folder I cant see the items on the network from the Mac or NC10.

The items I want to share both have the Hand icon under them to the T60 'thinks' they are shared but they are definately not showing.

T60 can see network drive/hub and MAc and NC10 have no problem seeing each other so where am i going wrong???

Just to be clear, can the T60 see the NC10? This could be a permissions problem. Have you allowed access to 'Everyone' on the D drive share? (I don't have a shared folder in front of me unfortunately).

Thanks for the reply - I have been having a play around with some settings and can now see folders shared on the T60 on the network.

It appears the NC10 publishes shares to Mshome and the T60 uses WORKGROUP so they dont show side by side.

Only slight issue now though is that on my NETWORK PLACES on the T60 I can see available shares but although they are drives & I should be able to open them they just show as a generic Icon and i can click but not open???

If only everything in life was as simple as a Mac!!

you need to change the workgroup name so that both machines have the same workgroup.

also, check both the NTFS permissions and the share permissions are set correctly. you might need to check the firewall config as well to see if it's blocking it.
